Ecuador 2018 Phototour

Nature and photography trip to Ecuador – 7 to 20 July 2018 with Emanuele Biggi and Tropical Herping.

This trip is intended for amateur and professional wildlife naturalists and photographers who appreciate macro and closeup photography and smaller animals together with all the other forest marvels we’ll find during the journey.
Tripping with Tropical Herping means that part of the trip income will help research and conservation of the Ecuadorian forests.

Group of 6 to 10 people max, plus tour leader and local guide(s)

Number of nights: 13

Day 1 | Meeting in Quito | Quito (7 July 2018)
• Overnight at Quito – Holiday Inn Express Hotel.
Some of us will be reaching you at the airport to carry you and your luggage at the hotel.

Day 2 to 5 | Mindo area
• Mindo valley, in the transition between the Chocoan forest and the western
cloudforests, is a biodiversity hotspot and perfect place for toucans, tanagers,
hummingbirds, butterflies, rainfrogs, lizards and more.
• Overnight at Septimo Paraíso Lodge.

Day 6 to 10 | Yasuní National Park
• The core of the Ecuadorian Amazon: one of the most biodiverse places on Earth.
Perfect place to find snakes, poison dart frogs, tree frogs, salamanders, etc. The
paradise for macro!
• Overnight at Yasuni Research Station (ECY – PUCE)

Day 11 to 12 | Cotopaxi National Park
• Located in the Andes, is one of the best volcanic landscapes in Ecuador, and also
home of Andean birds like Andean gulls, Andean Teals, Caracaras, Andean
Lapwings and extreme hummingbirds. If we have luck, some Andean foxes and
wild horses.
• Overnight at Tambopaxi Lodge.

Day 13 | Back to Quito
• Farewell dinner.
• Overnight at Quito – Holiday Inn Express Hotel.

Day 14 | Quito / Flight back home
• Goodbye Ecuador!

The trip costs around 3490 $ (around 2900-3000 euro) based on a total of 8 people coming,
we’re accepting 6 to 10 pax, so it may slightly decrease or increase depending on final participation.

The price includes:

  • rooms (double share)
  • local transportation including boats and local flights
  • private local guides

  • parks entrance fees

It doesn’t include:

  • international flights to and from Ecuador,
  • additional nights due to flights cancellations
  • souvenirs,
  • Alcoholic beverages

  • personal photography equipment of any type
